After the 2008 season, I decided to move back to my home state of Ohio.  For some reason, I had the crazy idea of leaving the nice, warm weather in sunny Florida to brave the fierce winter of Central Ohio.  There were several reasons, none of which I will explain here.  However, one bright side to this move was the opportunity to take classes at Ohio State to get closer to earning my degree.  I already have a B.S. from the University of Central Florida, but ever since I left OSU early back in 2000, I've wanted to finish.  Being so close to OSU for the first time in 9 years, I figured now was the time to do it. Lucky for me, Ohio State is one of the few schools that have a Degree Completion Program for former student-athletes.  This programs allows athletes to come back and finish their degree free of charge, as long as they meet certain requirements.  Now, when I left, I was only 3 classes short of graduating.  When I met with my advisor before this quarter, I realized I was 10 short due to all the new requirements in my major!  Needless to say that was quite a shock.  That means 2 whole quarters of classes.  It's been almost 9 years since I last was in school so it has been quite a transition.  Everything has changed.  The campus itself seems to have been rebuilt and much of the class is technology based.  Anyways, there are only 2 weeks left in the quarter (thank God) and I am happy to report I have A's in every class so far.  Let's hope it stays that way after finals.

Baseball Lessons

I am currently conducting baseball lessons in the Columbus area.  Lessons will be offered to kids ages 8-22.  Instruction will focus on the proper mechanics of the professional swing.  Instruction can also be given in other areas (defense, pitching, baserunning, bunting) at your request.  For the more advanced player, I will go into detail on the finer aspects of the game including training secrets, professional drills, and the proper mental approach to the game.  Please email me if you are interested in learning more.

Hometown Homers

The Hometown Homers Foundation is a charitable fund that I am in the process of setting up.  The basic premise is I will raise money through various means and then give away that money to deserving causes.  Money will be raised through different events at baseball games, private donations, silent auctions of autographed memorabilia, a golf outing and others yet to be determined.
